Update: In addition to Bank of America financial centers that closed temporarily in Old Greenwich and Cos Cob, the financial center at 30 South Water Street has closed permanently.

Bank of America branches in Greenwich have “temporarily closed.” According to the company’s website and signage on locations including 162 East Putnam Ave in Cos Cob and 206 Sound Beach Ave location in Old Greenwich, the branches are closed temporarily.
Signage at the Greenwich Avenue location says, “We’re Moving” and will temporarily close for renovations on Jan 22.
The sign also says that during renovations, customers will be able to bank within the financial center using a different entrance starting on Jan 25.
Customers will also be able to access safe deposit boxes during normal business hours.
However, safe deposit boxes won’t be available on Jan 23 while the move is under way.

Customers are being encouraged to use the company’s mobile banking app, access their accounts at bankofamerica.com or make an appointment.
A call to the number on the sign was answered by someone in Texas who said the temporary branch closures were intended to minimize the spread of Covid-19.
For customers who rely on the Cos Cob and Old Greenwich locations, nearby Bank of America financial centers that are open, in addition to 240 Greenwich Ave, are:
433 Boston Post Road in Port Chester, NY
14 High Ridge Road Stamford
46 Atlantic Street in Stamford
37 Church Street in Stamford
1070 High Ridge Road in Stamford

Signage at the Cos Cob location suggests anyone needing access to their safe deposit box should call to schedule a time when an associate can be there to assist.
The Bank of America website quotes CEO Brian Moynihan saying, “We are focusing our resources on the number one priority – looking after people.”
The website also warns that because of the temporary closures, customers should expect longer wait times the locations that are open.
“Keeping our financial centers open is an important part of our fundamental role in our communities. Our top priority is to ensure the health and safety of our teammates and clients at each location. We have taken proactive steps to enhance cleaning procedures to limit the risk of exposure, based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and we follow local restrictions on the number of clients that can enter at one time.”
Nearby, in downtown New Canaan the Bank of America location at 94 Elm Street is also temporarily closed.
Bank of America responded to a Tweet from NewCanaanite remarking on the lack of explanation for the closure of that branch with an apology for the inconvenience, referring vaguely to “the state of circumstances nationwide” as the reason for the temporary closures.
