Original story 7:45am: I-95 south by exit 4 has been closed following two crashes near exit 5 southbound.
An initial serious crash was reported just before midnight on Wednesday when a tractor trailer overturned.
A second crash involved a Greenwich fire truck that responded to the first crash.
According to News 8, Connecticut State Police troopers were on scene of the overturned tractor trailer rollover around 1:00 am when two vehicles approached the scene, one striking the rear of the other.
The collision resulted in the fire apparatus being struck by one of the involved vehicles.
The Greenwich Fire Dept announced early Thursday morning, that while operating at the accident on I-95, Engine 1 was struck by a tractor trailer causing a secondary multi-vehicle accident resulting in the extrication and transport of multiple patients.
"All 3 personnel on Engine 1 were transported to Stamford hospital for treatment with non life threatening injuries," the Fire Dept said in a post on Facebook.
The crash is under investigation by the CT State Police.
